- 1 cup fresh coriander leaves
- 1 cup Besan
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 tsp green chilli, ginger &garlic paste
- pinch of baking soda
- pinch of turmeric
- 1 lemon
- 3 Tbsp of oil (if shallow frying)
- salt to taste
Step by Step Procedure to make Kothimbir Vadi

Step 1
Take a mixing bowl, add coriander leaves.

Step 2
Now add ginger, garlic & chilli paste.

Step 3
Add cumin powder and coriander powder.

Step 4
Now add garam masala.

Step 5
Now add sesame seeds and turmeric powder.

Step 6
Now squeeze lemon juice and mix well all the ingredients.

Step 7
Now add besan and again mix well to form a batter (sprinkle some water if required).

Step 8
This should be the consistency of batter. Set aside for 5 minutes.

Take a steaming plate and grease it with oil.

Step 10
Now take the vadi batter, add baking soda and mix well.

Now transfer the batter into the steaming plate.Now sprinkle some more sesame seeds on the top.

For steaming I took a pressure pan and kept an idly plate on which I placed the vadi batter plate .

Step 13
Now place the batter and steam for 15 minutes on medium flame.After 15 minutes, open the cooker and insert a knife and check if the batter is steamed well.

Step 14
After the batter is steamed , transfer to a separate plate and cut into small squares. This should be the fluffiness required.

Step 15
Now take a pan and add oil. As the oil heats add the vadi squares and fry them.

Else fry using Airfryer, grease the vadi squares with little oil.

Step 17
Now take the air fryer, set to air fry mode and start.As the air fryer is preheated(or beeps) , add the greased vadi squares to it and air fry for 3 minutes.
